Worthabbey Merlin was first presented for inspection at Cavan Equestrian Centre to be classified in the Irish Horse Register. After this inspection, Worthabbey Merlin was deemed to be an s1 stallion and can now be seen in the Irish Horse Studbook.
Worthabbey Merlin has competed in several different disciplines and has had much sucess in each field.
The Showjumping Assosiation of Ireland
Worthabbey Merlin has competed at various sjai shows all over munster.In 2003 when Merlin was 4 years old he competed in a competition called the young Irelander at the Green Glens Arena in Milstreet, Co Cork where he was one of 20 that qualified for the final out of over 100 other horses.After competing in the final Merlin was placed 3rd which was a fantastic achievement to him.Again in 2005 Worthabbey Merlin competed at the Green Glens Arena in Milstreet, Co.Cork in a competition called the National Pony Discovery where he qualified with 25 other ponies out of 120 in total for the final.After competing in the final Merlin was placed 6th.To date Worthabbey Merlin has 88 showjumping points with the sjai.
The Irish Pony Society
Worthabbey Merlin was first registered with The Irish Pony Society in the spring of 2006.In the short time that he competed in showing competitions he won numerous competitions.Worthabbey Merlin competed in the 153 Working Hunter Pony competiton at the Kingdom Co. Fair in Tralee, Co Kerry where he was ultimately placed 3rd.In June of that year Worthabbey Merlin competed at Belgooly and Newmarket on Fergus where he was placed 1st and 3rd respectively.At Belgooly Worthabbey Merlin was presented with the perpetual trophy for Working Hunter Pony Champion and Supreme Champion Ridden Pony of the show.Merlin also competed at Bandon show in the 153cms Working hunter pony where he was placed 1st which qualified him for the IPS Enzo's Cafe Open Working Hunter Competition at Cavan Equestrian Centre.Also with Merlins run of sucess he qualified to compete in the 153 open working hunter pony competition at St. Petersborough, England in September of that year. Due to family situations however Worthabbey Merlin was unable to compete in these prestigious competitions.To date Worthabbey Merlin has 25 showing points.
